We are currently running the following Pet Gundog Sessions:

One-to-one lessons – are great if you would like to address a specific challenge or problem you are experiencing with your dog like recall, loose lead walking, delivery of a retrieve

Puppy Training – for ‘true’ puppies from around 12 to 14 weeks onwards once fully vaccinated. Puppy courses run over eight hourly lessons, the first five are weekly, followed by three fortnightly at the end. This initial basic training course includes engagement, loose lead walking, sit, recall, manners, settling, appropriate play and more

Junior Training – after completing a course of puppy training dogs can progress to ‘Junior’ classes at around 5/6 months of age. This is also suitable for dogs that may have attended puppy lessons elsewhere. This level of training is a transition from puppy classes to beginner gundog training and runs only for four to five hourly lessons every fortnight. The focus is on manifesting the basics and establishing manners with an adolescent dog.

Beginner Pet Gundog Training – open to Gundog and Gundog crossbreeds from around 7/8 months old. The tasks include the successful use of the whistle for recall and sit, basic retrieving skills including marked and memory retrieves, steadiness, loose lead walking at heel with the aim to progress to off lead walking at heel

Novice Pet Gundog Training – suitable for dogs that have completed or show the skills of the beginner level. During this training sequence we expand on retrieving distance, add two-dummy retrieves, challenging the steadiness level and work on a solid delivery to hand.

Intermediate Pet Gundog Training – at this level dogs will increasingly be tested off lead, we will be adding hunting on command, directional control and train in an overall more challenging environment.

Advanced Pet Gundog Training – training is starting to become increasingly finessed; dogs will have learned to stop at a distance, understand the ‘go back’ command, retrieve over obstacles, walk off lead in line with other dogs and honour other dogs working and retrieving nearby.

The Working Pet Gundog – is the most superior training level and will prepare dogs for the shooting field on land and from water. The aim is to have solid and reliable whistle commands in a variety of environments, full directional control within much tighter handling spaces. We will also train typical shooting scenarios with dogs running a ‘mock’ beating line, taking the role of pickers-up and sweeping after ‘mock’ drives.

From Beginner level onwards, all group training runs fortnightly for 90min.

The Accredited Pet Gundog Training Days – we offer a variety of training days throughout the year focusing on specific areas, i.e. ‘Back to Basics’ following the shooting season, ‘Water Training’ days, ‘Working in Woodland’ and more.
